Thinking of Buying a Used Car?
Are you feeling happy because you have in your possession a driver’s license already? You still feel euphoric over having passed that driving test that you took a week ago. Having passed the driving test you can finally get your own car. You imagine that you can finally do what you want with a car of your own. You imagine yourself running errands to town in your car. You even imagine going on an out of town trip with it. You are just excited to buy your own car.
Well since this is the first time you will be buying a car maybe you are thinking of buying a used car. You see it as a logical purchase for you since a used car will be running of course. You also don’t want to spend a lot of moolah on your first car. So you conclude that a used car will be good enough for you. You may have even seen some used cars in some car dealer shops already. But before you pay them do yourself a favour and think about the following three things first.
The first thing that you have to consider is that used cars will not cost much when you resell it. What this means is that there is not much money for you to make should you decide to sell your used car. So it will be a certainty that you won’t get back the full amount that you paid for it. When you sell it even after only one year of using it, it will be sold for a low amount only.
The second thing that you have to consider is that there are hidden costs that may come with the used car. There are hidden costs that car dealers put on the original price of the used car that allow them to earn more profit from it. This is even more prevalent when you are going to avail of in-house financing as your way of purchasing the car. The more hidden costs you have when you don’t pay for it in full amount.
The third point of consideration is the high expense that comes with using a used car. The main reason for this is its having low fuel efficiency already. Since you don’t have knowledge about its previous owner then you may not know also how it was handled by that owner. But you can be sure that it is not fuel efficient anymore. Also you cannot expect a used car to run smoothly. Maybe the car has ran for many miles over the years already. And also since it has low fuel efficiency then this means that you will have higher gas bill.
